Discipleship: Salvation

Salvation is the ultimate gift that God our Father has given us. It is our promise of life everlasting and our ticket to a great life on earth. It's no wonder the devil tries so hard to deceive people into going the wrong way in life. Once we've become a Christian, it is our job to tell others about the goodness of God and the bad plans the of the devil.

James 1:17 says that "every good and perfect gift is from above." God doesn't cause bad things to happen to us. He gives us the opportunity through salvation - His free gift to us - to obtain all of the good things He has for us. The devil will try to make you believe that, for example, God gives people cancer to teach them a lesson. This couldn't be further from the truth! He gave purchased salvation, peace, healing and many other things for us at Calvary according to Isaiah 53:5. He has already taken those things from us. It's the devil who tries to attack us with bad things and deceive us. Never believe the lies of the devil. There is no truth in him, so just reverse what he says in faith and declare the Word of God at all times.

Remember, as a Christian you have access to the promises of God. Live a life of faith and take hold of everything He has for you!

  1. I loooved today's sermon!

    Romans 10:9
    Romans 6:7
    Romans 6:18-23
    Rev. 3:20
    1 Peter 1:16
    Phil. 2:12

    1. One way to heaven, one way to be saved. That is through Jesus Christ.
    2. When we'r saved we become closer to Him. When we simplify our lives and sin we become alienated to Him.

When we 'alienate' our selves from His word, we do not recognize it, it becomes a distant thing in our lives that we do not feel close to. Reading over this it made me think, "Its just with his love and protection, when we surround ourselves with his love, and read his word, we feel the power of him protect us from un-Godly things. But when we stray away, we forget what it feels like, and think its not needed, because we forgot how powerful his love is and it becomes a distant feeling in our hearts. We became alienated.

This happens a lot when people make excuses. It can start out with "I do not feel good" when you do not feel like going to church. But it can become "Um, i- uhhhh, i did not get my whole 8 hours of sleep last night, only 7 of them, AND SO i cant go to church." and "I feel to hungry to talk to God today, OH and tomorrow i cant spend time with Him and my bible 'cus i got a pedicure tomorrow too." Soon we don't spend even a second of our days for him, not even during church when we go!!! Any excuse you make wont live up to him, .NOTHING. should be more important then .GOD.

Excuses are just excuses. If your tired, bring a blanket with you and nap during segments! If your hungry bring a freakin snack with you! If you don't feel good, coming to church is just what you need! "Bring your tacos to church if you have to!"

This sermon once again spoke to my heart, but for a friend. There's the people you be-friend, and over time its like watching a great person become a hobbit. They decrease in what you saw in them, they loose their touch with God, and you want to help them but its a challenge when their not only alienated now, but stubborn :/ Every worship time in Discipleship i have been praying for that friend (and even after discipleship), and i'm putting my faith into works, because "One way to heaven, one way to be saved, and that is through Christ." :)

    1. "Excuses are just excuses."

BOOM! Isn't that the truth?! As Christians, we should eliminate excuses. This will make us stand out as the "saved" and will expand and strengthen our witness. When we just do, and put excuses to the side, we become the light of the world and we will be different. Darkness craves light. Matthew 5:14.

      YOU ARE A LIGHT!

  2. Today was the second day of discipleship 2012, and our first preacher was Jade De Kelaita, Childrens Minister over salvation. Her first point was that there is only one way to be saved, and that is through Jesus Christ. Just pray to be a child of god. Her second point is the meaning of salvation, which is beleiveing in god, if your a christian, you better have salvation. Revelation 3:20 says this ' Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also kept thee thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try to dwell upn the earth. '.

Jade's next lesson was, Getting to know Jesus. When you first meet him, your heart might be beating really fast, in christ this means he is knocking at your heart. When you become saved and live your lives holy, we become closer to him, if we live simple we are alienated to him. If we are saved, then we should live saved to, no one in christ will accept you if you live alienated. 1st Pter 1:16 says this ' Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. '

Wehn you are saved with salvation and wear it, not only does he see your christianity but he sees his son. And not only can we be worthy, but we can be holy as him. You cannot force someone to be saved it is entirly their choice, dont make them do anything. Philipians 2:12 says this ' Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, nut now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembeling. ' . It is your choice to be saved as well as it is your choice to be holy or not to be holy.

Go to church every week, there is no excuse not to, being hungry or watching tv, not an excuse, just record it or buy your food on the way, nothing is more important than god, be in the house of god every chance u get. As great singers once said, we might not have tomorrow, so talk to him when you have the chance. When your saved, you inherit access to all good things. Romans 6:23 says ' For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ. ' God is your gift. Beleive that Jesus is god, the son, who paid the wages of your sin. Dont be afraid to talk to him or about him.

    1. "Nothing is more important than God, be in the house of God every chance u get."

These are your words and if you never forget them, you'll live an incredibly impacting life for God's Kingdom. People that know there is no thing and no one more important than God are world changers. Jesus Himself knew how important God was! Mark 1:35 (King James Version) talks about Jesus spending time with God. "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." By doing this, you'll live like the "saved" and save people! Look up proverbs 11:30.

      You are wise!

    1. "Practice your salvation everyday."

This is major! On our own, we cannot be perfect. On our own, we are a HOT MESS. With Christ, however, we can be perfect. Do we still make mistakes? Definitely. Do we still fall short? Sometimes (Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God). Are we still perfect? Yes, if we remain in Christ (1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness). He keeps us perfect by His precious blood, which has purchased our souls. Even in our HOT MESS mistakes, we can remain in Christ. Our job is to work out, practice, rehearse, and live (to the very best of our ability) our salvation.

We must always remember that mistakes come by accident. Choices are different. Never choose to fall short. Never choose sin. Never choose the wrong way. Making the right choices everyday helps us work out our salvation.

Can you do it? YES, YOU CAN! And you can lead others to the same type of lifestyle!

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  4. Salvation is a very POWERFUL weapon we have against our enemy. Without it we might as well be walking into a battlefield without training. Today I learned alot more about salvation through God than my auntSherry, Trinity church, or Grace has ever taught me about this particular subject. And all of this was in an HOUR. Today I did the boldest thing after class. It was in Macdonalds and there was this woman I didn't know her at all. And when we got to her table and witnessed to her about salvation I felt so good.We have shared together the blessings of God.PHILLIPIANS1:7. Reyna Hennesay

    1. WOW! Way to go on witnessing at McDonalds! God is so proud! I love what you said here:

"Salvation is a very POWERFUL weapon we have against our enemy. Without it we might as well be walking into a battlefield without training."

Imagine walking into a raging battle field where people are raising swords and roaring battle cries in your direction. You stand up tall, lift your hand in the air, and stare them down. They laugh. You look up and you're holding a tooth pick! Not quite the right weapon for the battle. Without salvation, we can't fight the evil of this world. But with it, I am baffled at the possibilities of victory we have.

Revelation 12:11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. KJV

      Great post!

  5. Todays discipleship was amazing!!Todays lesson was amazing, thanks Ms Jade. She taught us a lot on Salvation and I am going to blog about it. The first thing we learned was that the ONLY way to Heaven/the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6- Jesus saith unto them I am the way. the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me) so since Jesus said it AND it is in the Bible you know it is true so DONT go to other gods for Salvation because I guarantee you will not find it, atleast not the real thing. The next thing was when we are saved and live holy for God we grow closer to God but when you stay in sin you alienate yourself from God, you DONT want to do that. When you alienate yourself from God you close yourself out on SO many things that he could give you and he wouldnt be able to bless you like he REALLY wants to. But when you stay holy before God your Salvation grows and so does your Faith, two of your most powerful Spiritual Weapons. The next thing is ONLY you can choose to recieve Salvation and become saved. If God wanted to force you to love him he would but, that is not real love. If God cant force someone to believe neither can we, it solely your decision to choose Jesus, NOBODY can choose for you, so for me that means you should DEFINENTLY choose Salvation so you can have life and have life more abundantly. Another thing is that when you are saved you have access to ALL good and Godly things one thing is you will have victory over your enemies, but that does NOT mean you can just go to school and try to beat up the meanest Bully just because you recieved Salvation NO, it means you will have a Spiritual Victories over your enemies so dont go try to beath them up, thats NOT how it works. the last thing is you go from Sins Slave to God's Child (Romans 6:18- being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness) so if you are set free you are no longer a slave (Sins Slave) and a servant os righteousness is a Child of God beacuse God said you must serve others so you serve the righteous and God is VERY righteous, just like you "serve" your parents you serve God with ALL of your heart.
We also got a few points on How Not TO MIss CHurch:
    1. If your TV shw is on and it is THAT important record it or look it up on YouTube when you get home so you can still be in the House of God
    2. If you are hungry just go to Jacs when you get to church, bring snacks with you to church, or stop and get sometthing to eat on the way to church and eat it while you listen to the Word of God
3.If you have a friend sleepover on Tuesday or Sunday, it is simple bring them with you and help them learn how to grow in their Salvation
we also learned that, you know how when you see someone that reminds you of a family member and you automatically like them, well God is like that when you recieve Salvation and put on your Jesus Clothes you remind God of his Son Jesus and he loves you for trying to be like him
we also talked about how when God is knocking at your heart he wants you to open your heart up to him so he can do something big, or he knocks at your heart becaue you know he wants you to do something and you havent done it yet.
We also recieved witnessing cards and have to do a sermon on Friday, Pastor CAtherine gave us a scripture to help us with being terrified of public speaking (Jeremiah 1:8- be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord) this scripture will help because it shows that the people your talking to what they think/ say doesnt matter as long as you try your hardest for what God wants you to do then we will deliver you from that fear.
Todays message really helped me so I can help my Family grow in their Salvation andhow to get them all in church and I think Jeremiah 1:8 will help me A LOT as I grow cloer to God because it will break open not only mine but other peoples comfort zones. Thank you SO much for discipleship it REALLY helps.

    1. Krya,

The most beautiful and powerful thing to know if this life is that Jesus is Lord. Your first few sentences contain words of a world changer. Jesus is the only way! Because you know it, share it. Find creative avenues to tell people about Him and the truth of John 14:6. Use your writing gift by creating a blog or posting/tweeting creative sentences that hook people. Write a book! Whatever you have to do, do it. Let's let them know THE WAY.

      Psalm 45:1

    1. It is awesome that you are finding that special time to spend with God and seek Him. Jesus Himself had to do it. In Mark 1:35, Jesus took Himself to a solitary place and prayed. He prepared Himself for the day by pursuing God before He went after anything else. As Christians, following the example of Christ (Ephesians 5:1), we should do everything in our power to do the same.

Finding out the importance of prayer is one of the most powerful things you will ever access. It's like the super heroes in the movies when they find out their true and ultimate power. At that moment, they suddenly can destroy and and every obstacle that arises. We have super powers! Let's use them in prayer!

      Great post!

  8. Tierra Rudisill: discipleship was awesomeand I learned about sacrifice. if you are christian you should live holy and you will be closer to God but if you are that sins a lot then you will be seperated from God. another thing that I learned id that there's only 1way to go to heaven in that is Jesus. and another thing that I learned is when you are saved you are access to all godly things. you go from sin slave to God children when you are saved.

You truly get all of God's goodness. ALL OF IT! I want to pass out just thinking about it! Think on the scripture above and think of what you want from God. It's yours! (As long as it is within His plan and perfect purpose for you).

Tierra, go after it! Ask God! Pursue it! It's yours!
